Addison DeWitt, a high school senior from Gallatin's Liberty Creek High School, has become the first student in the school's history to obtain her pilot's license. At just 18 years old, Addison has set her sights on the skies, expressing her desire to pursue aviation as a career and to become an airline pilot.
Her journey began with a fascination sparked in Liberty Creek's Intro to Aerospace program, where she discovered her passion for flying. Now, armed with her private pilot certificate, Addison can fly the skies with the same freedom she once felt behind the wheel of a car when she was learning how to drive, but at a much faster pace and with a better view!
Luke Sweeney, a Certified Flight Instructor at the Gallatin Airport, commended Addison's accomplishments, highlighting her ability to now legally carry passengers and fly solo. Addison herself loves her newfound ability, describing the experience of flying an airplane as akin to "flying the friendly skies" – a sentiment reflected in her welcoming and accomplished demeanor.
As Addison sets her sights on Purdue University to pursue a degree in professional flight, she leaves behind a legacy at Liberty Creek as a trailblazer in aviation, inspiring other students to reach for the skies.
