Gallatin Public Library Opens the Bill and Claudia Puryear Experiential Learning Center

Gallatin Public Library unveiled its latest addition, the Bill & Claudia Puryear Experiential Learning Center, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 7th. This dedication pays homage to the Puryears, ardent supporters of the library and its mission. Mayor Paige Brown welcomed attendees, followed by Dr. David McKee, Chairman of the Memorial Foundation Board, who highlighted Bill Puryear's profound affinity for libraries.


John Puryear, representing the family, emphasizing their passion for various forms of art and knowledge-sharing. Local artist David Wright fondly reminisced about his friendship with the Puryears, emphasizing Bill's significant contributions as a writer and painter.


Linda Daniels, President of the Gallatin Friends of the Library, conveyed her excitement about the spacious new learning center, underscoring its significance in honoring Mr. Puryear's legacy.


As a founding trustee of the Memorial Foundation, Puryear played a pivotal role in the library's existence.

Gabby Cato, Library Director, expressed gratitude to the sponsors, including the Memorial Foundation and Meta. The ceremony concluded with a reception hosted by the Friends of the Gallatin Public Library, celebrating the enduring impact of the Puryears and the library's commitment to experiential learning.
